This month we tackled something you feel the instant you look at another adventurer: how a character carries their weapon. Until now, everyone moved the same way no matter what they held. That changes today — your stance, your stride, and your idle now match your gear.
What Changed
Every character now adopts a distinct fighting stance and a distinct set of walk, run, and idle animations based on the weapon type in hand. A swordsman plants their feet differently than an archer. A spear-wielder holds the line. Pull out a bow and your whole posture shifts to match.
⚔️ A Stance for Every Weapon
We now support a full range of weapon stances, each with its own look and movement feel:
- Unarmed
- One-handed
- Two-handed
- Sword-and-shield
- Dual-wield
- Bow
- Crossbow
- Spear
Holding a bow now looks and moves completely differently from hauling around a greatsword — and you can read it at a glance.
🏹 Crossbows and Spears Join the Fight
Crossbows and spears are now fully supported across equipping, holding, and animation. These weapon families were previously held back, and they're ready to wield properly.
🧙 NPCs Carry Their Weapons Too
This isn't just for players. Humanoid NPCs — including quest givers and merchants like Branoc, Delivan, and Koskela — now visibly hold and stand with their weapons. Towns and camps feel more alive, and you can tell who's armed and how just by walking past them.
✨ No More T-Pose Previews
Character previews on menus used to stand stiff and lifeless. Now they animate in a proper idle stance, so what you see in the menu reflects how your adventurer actually carries themselves out in the world.
Why It Matters
Combat and exploration both get more readable. When you spot another adventurer, their stance and stride tell you what they're wielding before you ever check their gear. The world feels more grounded, more reactive, and more alive — a small detail that adds up to a big difference in how Clash of Adventurers feels to play.
Draw your weapon and see how it changes the way you move. We'd love to hear what you think — find us in the First Adventurers community.
